Job Summary
ConnectPay is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented M&A Business Development Specialist to support the company’s acquisition pipeline. This role is going to support sourcing, prospect research, CRM management, and diligence coordination in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This candidate is organized, eager to learn, and excited about gaining hands-on exposure to corporate development and M&A.

CP Payroll believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of this role’s hiring base salary range is $70,000 - 75,000. The actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s education, training, experience, location, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, all CP Payroll team members receive equity and participate in either an annual bonus plan, based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan. The commission structure will be shared in detail during the interview process.

This role is going to support sourcing, prospect research, CRM management, and diligence coordination in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This candidate is organized, eager to learn, and excited about gaining hands-on exposure to corporate development and M&A.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospecting & Business Development Support (Expected Time Allocation: 50–75%)
- Assist with outreach efforts (email, calls, LinkedIn) to engage potential acquisition targets and schedule meetings with qualified prospects.
- Research and identify acquisition targets aligned with ConnectPay’s strategy.
- Participate in early discovery conversations; document notes, maintain follow-ups, and assess initial strategic fit.
- Support intake by helping prospects navigate required document collection and preparation.
CRM & Data Management
- Maintain accurate CRM records including contacts, activity notes, deal stages, and next steps.
- Help produce weekly pipeline summaries and track outreach and conversion metrics.
Operational Support & Technology Enablement
- Assist with evaluating new tools (e.g., AI applications, prospecting technology) to improve team efficiency.
- Maintain organized shared folders and ensure proper version control across M&A documentation.
Financial Analysis & Diligence Support
- Support creation and maintenance of Excel-based models to analyze historical performance and basic forecasts.
- Perform preliminary analysis of key metrics and summarize insights for senior team members.
- Assist in diligence by tracking data requests, organizing documents, and maintaining structured file systems.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of business development experience, including outreach, calling, and engaging with prospects.
- 3+ years of total experience in finance, business analysis, sales, or related fields.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, client-facing demeanor.
- Self-starter with a desire to learn M&A and corporate development.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
